Laboratory Services
103-104 Laurel Hall

During the academic year, diagnostic laboratory testing is provided in support of all outpatient clinics and specialty services. Most of the lab work is performed at the SHS, to include urinalysis, complete blood counts, mono testing, strep throat cultures, cholesterol testing, and glucose testing. Laboratory tests must be ordered by Student Health practitioner.

Hours
Hours of Service are Monday - Friday, 8am to 4:30pm.

Insurance Coverage
Tests included in the Student Health Fee are uninalysis, complete blood count, mononucleosis, strep throat culture, cholesterol, and glucose.

For special studies sent to our reference lab, the patient's insurance carrier is billed for this service by the reference lab. Some HMO (Health Maintenance Organization) and PPG (Preferred Provider Group) based insurance plans exclude coverage for laboratory tests not authorized or taken in conjunction with that HMO/PPG. While every effort will be made by SHS staff to coordinate your level of coverage with the need for diagnostic laboratory services, you need to be aware of your insurance coverage requirements and limitations at the time of your visit.

X-Ray Services (Radiology)
126-127 Laurel Hall

During the academic year, diagnostic x-ray services are provided at Laurel Hall, in cooperation with Papastavros Associates Medical Imaging. The X-ray must be ordered by a Student Health Service practitioner. For the benefit of patients and SHS staff, x-rays are taken and the film developed for immediate evaluation at the SHS. The x-rays are then sent to the radiologist for detailed evaluation and reports.

X-Ray

Hours

Hours of Service are Monday - Friday, 8am to noon and 1-4:30 pm.

Insurance Coverage

The Student Health Fee does not include X-ray Services. Students need to be aware of their insurance coverage requirements and limitations at time of their visit. The charges for specific X-rays are available upon request in the X-ray department.

The patient's health insurance carrier is billed directly by the local radiology group for this service. Some HMO (Health Maintenance Organization) and PPG (Preferred Provider Group) based insurance plans exclude coverage for x-rays not authorized or taken in conjunction with that HMO/PPG. While every effort will be made by SHS staff to coordinate your level of coverage with the need for diagnostic x-ray services, you need to be aware of your insurance coverage requirements and limitations at the time of your visit.

If you are a NCAA athlete and you needed an x-ray as a result of a NCAA sports related injury, you need to complete a claim form with The Associate Director of Athletics located in the Delaware Field House. Please download this form and bring it to the Delaware Field House.
