You are responsible for everything your computer or wireless router does on the network, whether you have knowledge of it or not. You will be held accountable for network traffic traced back to your computer or wireless router's IP address. ...more When an infected system is detected, it will be automatically disconnected from the University network. Before it can be reconnected, it must be cleaned and patched. You will have ONE CHANCE to clean and patch it yourself. If the problem is not fixed and your system is disconnected a second time, you will be required to have your system cleaned by IT-User Services before your connection will be restored. IT-User Services charges $70 for initial clean-up service and $100 for repeat service.

Most music, movies, video games and software is protected from unauthorized distribution by copyright law. Many peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing programs are configured to share by default. Even if you buy a CD and rip it to your PC, it is illegal to distribute it to others, so it is important to prevent your computer from illegally distributing content that you legally own! If you violate copyright laws you may be subject to prosecution whether you know your computer is sharing them or not. Fines range from $750 to $150,000 per infringed title (i.e., per song or movie).
