Perform Mac OS X (10.4) Periodic Maintenance

To perform periodic maintenance on a Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) computer, follow these steps:

1. On your hard drive, click Applications. The Applications window should look similar to the one below:

2. Double-click the Utilities folder. The Utilities window should look similar to the one below:

3. Double-click Disk Utility.app. You will see a window like the one below:

   

4. Click the name of your hard drive in the left pane (e.g., Macintosh HD in this example) . The Macinthosh HD window will look similar to the one below:

5. Click the First Aid tab if necessary.
6. Click Repair Disk Permissions.
7. When the process is complete, close the window.
