To perform periodic maintenance on a Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) computer, follow these steps:
- On your hard drive, click Applications. The Applications window should look similar to the one below:

- Double-click the Utilities folder. The Utilities window should look similar to the one below:

- Double-click Disk Utility.app. You will see a window like the
one below:

- Click the name of your hard drive in the left pane (e.g., Macintosh HD in this example) . The Macinthosh HD window will look similar to the one below:

- Click the First Aid tab if necessary.
- Click Repair Disk Permissions.
- When the process is complete, close the window.

You should run Disk Utility after installing any new software to ensure that the installation did not affect your computer in any adverse way. |
