All About ResNet
The goal of the Residential Networking Program (ResNet) at the University of Delaware is to provide computer connections to the University's network and full Internet connectivity to all students living on campus. This web site offers links to various resources that provide network connection assistance and information about how students can keep their computer problem free.
In addition to supporting students who live in campus residence halls, we also provide links to resources for students who live off-campus and would like to connect to the campus network.
Residential Computing Consultants (RCCs)
The Residential Computing Consultants (RCCs) are student employees who provide the first level of support for connectivity troubleshooting and Internet applications to students using residence hall Ethernet connections. RCCs provide computer connection support by troubleshooting problems either by phone or by scheduling an appointment. In addition to connection questions, RCCs can also help with printer problems.
RCCs do not support e-mail account or password problems. They cannot provide help with modems or disk drives and are not allowed to provide hardware installations other than Ethernet cards. Students should call 831-6000 to get campus help with these types of problems.
Getting Help
Students who are unable to connect may call 831-8825 and leave a message asking for additional assistance. Based on their residence hall location, students will select from a list of three submailboxes to record their problem. Off-campus students should select mailbox four. Leaving a complete message stating their name, residence hall room location and phone number with a brief description of the problem will allow an RCC or staff person to contact the student as soon as possible. The response time will depend on the volume of calls. Typically, this is very high during the beginning of the fall semester and might result in a delay of up to several days. Calls are taken on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Students may also request help with connecting their computer to the network by e-mailing resnet-help@udel.edu.
