Partnering with the Residence Life StaffIf you are a faculty member, we would like to welcome you to the Office of Residence Life's web page and thank you for your interest in working with us. In Residence Life, we try to be much more than just a place where students can sleep and socialize. Residence halls are places in which students can learn, explore new ideas, meet others who may differ in backgrounds, and test boundaries. The halls provide a value-added learning experience to UD students who chose to live in them! Faculty members and their involvement with our residence hall students is an important aspect of creating a seamless living and learning experience. The Residence Life mission statement and our goals articulate our support of the academic mission of the University. Involving faculty members is crucial to the accomplishment of our goals. We hope you will explore some of the ways in which you can get involved in helping us – or share with us your ideas for new ways. It can be as simple as going to a meal in a dining hall with one of our student staff members or as involved as being "adopted" by a Residence Hall Complex and participating in on-going community development events. In any case, in addition to helping our students and us, we believe you will find these experiences fun, energizing, and enjoyable as well! We believe that when students see faculty members outside the classroom, they become more comfortable with them. Informal interactions help students realize that faculty members have much more to offer than just valuable information learned in the classroom. These interactions help students feel less hesitant about approaching a faculty member for assistance. Thus, students more easily are able to find faculty members who become mentors, allies, research role models, references, and can provide assistance in a myriad of other ways. So please, explore our web page and the ways you can get involved in our halls. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
