All students are required to check-in for each semester they live on campus.
On Move-In Day, you will need to present your student ID card to a Residence Life & Housing staff member at the check-in table. It will be helpful pack your ID in a place that is easily accessible.
Move-In Day is a busy day on campus, so please respect University parking regulations to make the process run smoothly for everyone.
Please note: The University reserves the right to tow any vehicle in violation of parking regulations.
For students living in Squire, Sussex, Kent, Smyth
If you have requested Early Check In for Saturday, February 7 or plan to move in on Sunday, February 8 or Monday, February 9, you may use the fire lane going to Hartshorn Hall to unload your belongings. You will then need to move your vehicle to long term parking, turning around in the Hartshorn parking lot.
Parking Services staff will be available in the area 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on February 8.
For students living in Cannon and New Castle
If you have requested Early Check In for Saturday, February 7 or plan to move in on Sunday, February 8 or Monday, February 9, you will need to park by Robinson Hall and walk your belongings across The Green.
Parking Services staff will be available in the area 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on February 8. During these hours only, staff will assist students with transporting belongings.
Vehicles may not park on campus overnight unless authorized by Parking Services. To obtain a visitor's permit, visit the Parking Services site or visit the Parking Services Office when you arrive to campus.
Living in the residence halls is an easy way to get to know your fellow Blue Hens.
Having a roommate is a wonderful opportunity to learn from someone with a different background than your own and helps you develop negotiation and communication skills. Many students will have the chance to live with someone from a different country and will have the opportunity to deepen their global competencies while developing a friendship that spans continents.
A successful roommate relationship depends on mutual respect, open and honest communication, and the ability to discuss problems as soon as they arise. Residence Life & Housing will provide any interested roommate pair with a Roommate Agreement. The agreement will help you develop lines of communication, identify potential conflicts, and learn about each other's perspectives so that you can respect each other's living habits and make compromises.
If you are having difficulties with your roommate, we encourage you discuss the problem early, openly and honestly. We provide tips to establish a good relationship with your roommate and sort out the conflict on your own.
If you find that you and your roommate cannot reach a mutual agreement, contact your Resident Assistant (RA) or Residence Hall Coordinator (RHC) or Area or Complex Coordinator (AC/CC). Our staff is trained to mediate conflicts, and may be able to help you and your roommate resolve the problem. Working through problems with your roommate is a learning experience. Although changing roommates is not always the best solution, you may submit a room change form if you cannot come to an agreement after working with your roommate, RA, and RHC/CC/AC.
One of the best things about living on campus is that you are not bound to your assigned room as you would be if you signed a lease. If you would like to move to a different area of campus, you may submit a room change request form. Please review the different types of room changes before submitting the form. If you have any questions or would like to discuss your options, contact your Residence Hall Coordinator or Complex or Area Coordinator or assignment staff member.
You are required to abide by all Residence Hall Regulations, the policies outlined in the Housing Contract, and the Student Guide to University Policies. These exist to help create an environment in the residence halls that is conducive to community development and academic pusuits. Failure to abide by these will affect your status as a resident.

UD provides ubiquitous wireless coverage in the residence halls. In addition, all students who live on campus will be provided with an Ethernet connection for direct access to the UD Network and the Internet. It is important that you review the information about maintaining your computer's security. You will need to set up your computer for a wireless connection as well as a residence hall Ethernet connection.

All residence hall rooms are wired for cable TV. Bring a cable-ready TV to campus, as well as a coaxial cable to connect your TV to the cable outlet in your room. If you have problems with your cable connection, please submit a request online or call (302) 831-6000.

Although a local phone service is not provided, students may use the telephones located in hallways of the residence halls for emergencies. The University encourages students to bring cell phones to communicate with family members and friends. Students should also consider using online services such as Skype and Google Chat.

Dining at the University of Delaware isn't just about the food – it's about the community experience. Whether you prefer sitting down to a meal with friends in one of the dining halls or you're always on the go, there is a meal plan to suit your needs!
All meal plans are divided into Meals, Points, and guest passes. Your UD i-card will be programmed with your meal plan – just swipe it at the register and go!
Meals - Can be spent during the designated meal hours in any of the residential dining locations. The dining halls provide a buffet-style dining experience with a great social atmosphere.
Points – Points can be used anytime in the food courts, campus markets, and cafes.
Guest Passes – Additional Meals that students can use to treat a friend or family member to a meal in the residential dining locations.

It's important to be aware of what you're eating, and Dining Services makes it easy! If you're looking for nutritional information, visit the Dining Services website. Dining provides nutrition facts for all items served on campus and offers tips for eating a balanced diet.

The i-card functions as an official ID card and will provide you with access to locations across campus (e.g. fitness centers, student activities and events, laundry facilities, athletic events, etc). You'll never have to carry cash on campus with your i-card linked to your FLEX account or your PNC account!

The University of Delaware Police work to create an environment where people can feel safe to learn, work, live and visit and are committed to providing quality service and protection to the entire University community. UDPD is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).
University of Delaware Police Officers and Student Police Aides regularly patrol campus by day and during the late-night hours, and a free walking escort program is offered by calling (302) 831-2222 or by using one of the many blue light emergency phones located across campus. Additionally, aides maintain a presence on UD shuttle buses during late-night runs.
