Cancellation Forms

Academic Year Cancellation

An application is considered complete once the contract is signed and the $200 prepayment has been paid or approved to be waived.* The prepayment is non-refundable as of November 1, 2015. The Student Housing Contract is legally binding as follows:

  • Returning Students who apply during their Open Enrollment period are guaranteed housing and are bound to the contract within three business days of the earlier of: (1) selecting a room, (2) receiving a room assignment. All contracts become binding as of April 1.
  • Returning Students who apply after their designated Open Enrollment period and are on the non-guaranteed wait list are bound to the contract within three business days of the earlier of: (1) placement on the guaranteed wait list, (2) selecting a room, or (3) receiving a room assignment.
  • Newly admitted Transfer Students are bound to the contract within three business days of the earlier of: (1) placement on the guaranteed wait list, (2) selecting a room, or (3) receiving a room assignment.
  • Newly admitted First Year Students are bound to the contract within three business days of the date of completing the housing application.

Within three business days of the contract binding date, the student has the right to cancel their Contract without any further financial obligation.

Students can cancel their Academic Year application during the grace period by selecting Cancel Application within their housing application.

*Incoming first-year students do not pay a housing prepayment.

Greek Housing Cancellation

Select the Request for Release form within the My Housing portal.

Request for Release

After the Student Housing Contract grace period of 3 business days, a student may request release from their contract through the process and conditions specified in the contract.

In order to initiate a request for release, a Request for Release Form must be submitted to Residence Life & Housing via the My Housing portal.

Housing Assignment Deferral Request

Upper-division students may use the Deferral Request form within the Upper Division housing application in My Housing to defer a semester of housing.

Your $200 prepayment will be applied to your housing bill when you return to campus. Deferring your application WILL hold/guarantee a space for you on campus, but WILL NOT hold/guarantee your current assignment. You will receive a new assignment based on availability when you return. The original terms and conditions of your housing contract still apply.
