My Responsibilities

I work with a number of our student engagement initiatives throughout the department. This includes many initiatives like the Student Initiative Fund, International Education Week, UD Day of Service and more. While many of the committees and projects I work with are varied in subject, the main focus is to develop opportunities for students to connect to engagement opportunities in the residence halls and throughout the campus community.

Educational Background

I attended University of Delaware as an undergraduate and received my B.A. in English with a concentration in Creative Writing and a minor in East Asian Studies with a concentration in Chinese Language. I was a transfer student, joining the UD community Spring semester my sophomore year. I received my M.F.A. from Adelphi University where I student Creative Writing and specialized in fiction.

Points of Pride

I am very proud of my role as Chair of the Student Engagement Goal of our Strategic Plan. It allows me to work with many other professionals in our department and also allows me to be highly involved in how our department develops towards the goal of helping students become more engaged on campus. Additionally, I have been grateful for the opportunity to serve as a leader on many committees that have recently grown to include many other professionals throughout campus including the UD Day of Service and International Education Week planning teams. It has been very excited to see these initiatives continue to grow and become campus wide programs.

Previous Positions Held

Previously, I was an Adjunct Professor of English and taught an introductory English course at Adelphi University and also served as the Graduate Assistant for the Center for Student Involvement.

Best Advice

Barriers and roadblocks are not there to stop you, but to give you an opportunity to show the world what you’re really made of.

Life Outside UD

When I’m not at work, I spend a lot of time reading and writing. I am currently working on a novel and hope to see it published in the near future. I enjoy cooking and incorporating new and exciting kitchen gadgets. I am also an avid terrarium and small space gardener.
