Points of Pride

As a native of Detroit, I am proud of my background in public education. Not many alumni of Detroit Public Schools are also college graduates. After college I elected to work with the National College Advising Corps in Battle Creek, MI. As a College Advisor I helped high school seniors navigate the pathway to college. While working at Battle Creek Central High School, I noticed the implications of the achievement and opportunity gaps on college admission and attendance. In an effort to combat this injustice, I applied to Teach For America. As a member of the 2012 St. Louis Corps, I taught secondary ELA and Spanish. While in the classroom I continued to work with high school seniors and helped them develop their post secondary plans. This experience helped me recognize my true passion, College Access and Success. Therefore, I am most proud of the opportunity I have here at the University of Delaware to serve students and assist in their post secondary success.

My Favorite Quote/Motto/Personal Philosophy

“The transformative power of love is not fully embraced in our society because we often wrongly believe that torment and anguish are our ‘natural’ condition.” –bell hooks

Life Outside UD

I love thrifting and repurposing found treasures. I love incorporating eclectic items into my home decor. I love spending time with my partner and dog. I especially love social media and capturing and documenting memorable life moments.
