On Campus Living Overview

"Encourage, Empower, Educate: Helping students discover their potential through personal relationships, diverse experiences, and inclusive communities."

"Each student discovering his or her potential" is a major portion of the statement of purpose of Residence Life. But the quality of your discovery truly depends on you. As you become an active partner in your on-campus living experience, know that many members of the university and our staff are there to assist you. Through educational programming, individual interactions, community development, policy enforcement, and other programs and services that complement your academic endeavors, the residence life staff will be there to encourage, empower and educate.

It is our hope that you take full advantage of the opportunities that will be available for you to: have meaningful personal relationships with your floor mates and other students; take some positive risks and participate in activities that are new for you and expand your understanding of yourself, others and the larger world; as well as be a strong, positive member of an inclusive and supportive community on your floor, in your building and throughout campus.

Because we all need a little help from our friends, Residence Life staff members work closely with a number of other departments to maximize the quality of life in the halls. The Housing Assignment Services office manages all room assignment and room change processes. Custodial Services and Pest Control is responsible for housekeeping in the common areas of the halls. Facilities Management provides maintenance services and manages residence hall renovation projects. Public Safety assists us in keeping our halls as safe and secure as possible.

For you to have a successful on-campus Living experience, it is important that you have an awareness of your rights and responsibilities and an understanding of the policies and procedures.
