Overview

At the University of Delaware, students can use several online tools to plan and register for classes each term. Course offerings are published online in .pdf format and are also searchable by year or by semester. Registration for the Fall, Winter Session and Spring terms occur at scheduled times - Early Registration(by appointment) and Open Enrollment(after scheduled appointments). Summer Sessions do not require appointments to enroll for courses. Information for classes available during Winter and Summer Sessions can be found here.

During Early Registration, students create and edit their class schedules during their assigned appointments. Open enrollment periods (Free Drop/Add) typically follow the appointment dates and run through the tenth day of the semester EXCEPT during New Student Orientation (typically beginning June 1 through August 1) when the registration window for Fall Semester is closed (undergraduate students only). When necessary, students can make changes to their class schedules until the Academic Penalty date, but are charged a fee. Withdrawals from courses are not given a tuition refund after the Open Enrollment dates. In unusual situations, students can request changes even after the Academic Penalty date, but must get proper approvals. Contact your Student Service/Assistant Dean's Office.

Registration appointments are available approximately 10 days before registration begins. To find your appointment, login to UDSIS. The blue Enrollment Dates box on the right lists your Registration appointment day and time. Students can register or drop courses or make changes (change grading basis or credits taken, when applicable) online using our Web Registration tool. Some requests require use of the Course Permit form. When registering for a course that needs permission, please contact the department that offers the course prior to attempting to register. Information about permissions is listed under "notes" in the Course Search feature.

After reviewing course offerings for the term, students should talk with their advisors prior to registering for classes. Advisor information can also be found online in UDSIS in the blue Advisor box on the right. Students should also keep in mind any restrictions or permissions needed for specific courses which are usually detailed in the course descriptions. Students must meet prerequisite requirements prior to the start of any class that has a prerequisite. Students who have not met the prerequisite by the start of the semester are subject to being dropped from the course.

At the end of the term, grades are also available online (as are mid-term grades for new freshmen). Grades are typically submitted 72 hours after the Final exam.

To view your grades, login to UDSIS. Select the Grades link in the other academic.. dropdown box and click the blue arrow. On the View My Grades page, select the term. Students unable to complete course requirements - with the approval of the instructor - have a limited amount of time to finish the course. Generally, coursework must be completed by the tenth day of classes in the following full semester (10th day of Spring for Fall or Winter course work and 10th day of Fall for Spring or Summer).

Should it be necessary, students can petition for a change of grade with the instructor or through the Committee on Undergraduate Records and Certification (CURC). Please see the Undergraduate and Graduate Catalog and your Assistant or Associate Dean for more information. Graduate students should contact the Office of Graduate and Professional Education at (302) 831-8745.
