WOMEN'S ULTIMATE STORM REGIONALS
Women’s Ultimate went into their Regionals weekend as the first overall seed, and true to their ranking they claimed the Colonial Conference title for the first time in 4 years, defeating teams from DC, Maryland and Delaware. Play started on Saturday, UD “Sideshow” had a tough game against Georgetown, who were seeded second in their pool. The girls battled against a smart team but pulled an 11-9 victory. The team then rolled through the next three pool games defeating George Washington (13-5), Johns Hopkins (13-0), and Salisbury (13-2). The team was then set to face Maryland in the Championship.
Delaware had played Maryland 6 times this season with a 5-1 record against them. With such an engrained rivalry the game heated up quickly. Sideshow opened the game 5-1, outscoring Maryland handedly for the first part of the first half. However, Maryland was able to figure out schemes and a got in two points. Delaware responded with three and the half ended 8-3. During the second half Delaware established their dominance by pulling away and won the game, 15-7, claiming the regional title for the first time since 2007!
