7/20: It's the last day of camp here at BHDC and we have been keeping the kids busy! This morning we started with Knockout, Lasso Ball and Parachute games. Then we made playing cards in arts and crafts and had a delicious pizza lunch! The afternoon was full of fun carnival activities, getting awards, and making ice cream snack. It was a great end to two weeks of fun here at BHDC. We hope to see you all next year!!!
7/19: We have been having fun, exciting, and slimy day here at BHDC. We hung out with Mrs. Whitney this morning, playing fitness tag games. We "Jumped the River" in sports and then jumped the counselors! In arts and music we got dirty making silly putty/bouncy balls. We had to escape from a late afternoon storm and watched Pixar's Ratatouille in the auditorium and now we are playing Knock Out and Pig.
7/18: Today was a field trip day here at BHDC and to get excited we played all sorts of games to get lose and lucky! We played Kickball in Sports, practiced our bowling skills with Bocce Ball in Wellness and made lucky bracelets in in Arts and Music. Then we left for the alley, where we had A TON of fun! Campers bowled against each other and counselors and some made trips to the arcade. Once we returned to camp we had popsicles and jumped in the pool!
7/17: We have been playing outside and inside today at BHDC. The morning began with a game of Team Wizards, Dragons and Ogres In fitness class we worked on cardio by playing tag games: freeze, toilet and chain tag. After that we finished with some yoga! Then we played "Flip the Chicken" with Sean, our wellness counselor. During sports we played Dodgeball with Jeremy and created masks with Meredith during Arts and Music. Everyone is looking forward to cooling off in the pool this afternoon, after a delicious snack of watermelon of course!
7/16: It has been a busy and hot day here at BHDC. Today we rotated through our normal activities: wellness, sports, arts and music, and group choice! We outsmarted each other in capture the flag, or at least attempted to! We scored runs playing Wiffleball and points playing Pin Knock Down. We made awesome masks and stained glass pictures in arts and music. And during group choice we played games like hangman, simon says, Freeze Tag, Indian Chief and Statues. We are the pool now, trying to stay cool on this beautiful but toasty day.
7/13: We ended the week with a day full of crazy activities: crab soccer, sharks and minnows, birdie on a tree, capture the flag, and TIE DYE!!! We demolished our structures built earlier in the week. It was a competition to see whose design was strongest. Pizza lunch was delicious and then we made our own ice cream for snack. Finally, extra long pool time was a great way to end the week. See you all on monday!!!
7/12: The day started off with a hit, Miss CK and Miss Whitney were back teaching fitness and Sean played strategy games! In fitness we played Rock-Tree- Bridge, animal relays and High-five relays. We had a lot of fun working on our fitness and silly in the morning. Jeremy taught us to play flag football and Meredith helped us make popcorn holders out of paper. They were great for holding our popcorn while we watched Madagascar! Then we went to the pool! Day 4 was awesome!
7/11: BHDC at the Zoo!!! We traveled to Brandywine Zoo early today! While there we learned about bats, got our faces painted, made bat puppets, and of course saw all the awesome animals. We made it back to camp just in time for a popsicle snack and to get in the outdoor pool! A great way to end Day 3 of camp!!
7/10: Today at Blue Hens Day Camp (BHDC) we had fun all day playing sports, participating in arts & music, doing wellness games and taking a fitness class. This morning we decided "Jackpot" was the official camp game and we had a guest counselor, Miss Whitney who lead the campers in kickboxing and yoga! Later we played disc golf, ultimate frisbee, did a blind obstacle course and other teamwork games. At arts and music we built towers and then demolition tested them for strength. Before we went to the pool we made sure to "Clean the backyard" this all camp game had campers frantically picking up their side of the field and throwing it into the opposing teams backyard. Its was great day here at BHDC!
7/9: Today in camp we enjoyed many activities. Our morning included, sports & wellness activities. There were Zombies & Heroes, team olympics with hula-hoops and relay races! After lunch everyone got to know each other better while building paper lanterns and UFOs and playing Spud. At the end of the day of the day we made a splash in the outdoor pool. Our first day was fill of fun and we cant wait for Day 2!!
