The Deputy Provost

The Deputy Provost is the Provost's chief advisor who, in conjunction with the Provost, works to assure a high quality of academic programs and educational opportunities at the University of Delaware. The Deputy Provost works closely with the Provost on a range of major activities of the Provost's Office in establishing and implementing the priorities of the Office and representing the Provost as appropriate. As the principal academic planning officer, the deputy provost's primary responsibilities include academic program planning and review, and capital planning as it relates to academic programs and enrollment planning. The Deputy Provost provides oversight over international programs, various academic undergraduate programs, the Honors Program, and administrative units such as Institutional Research and the Registrar's Office.

In addition, the Deputy Provost:

  • Reviews and improves the quality of University of Delaware's undergraduate academic programs and ensures that the University advances its academic mission;
  • Works closely with the Provost to establish global collaborations/partnerships and to extend the global role, leadership, geographic presence and visibility of UD;
  • Works closely with deans, other senior administrators, and the Office of the President in coordinating the activity of the Provost's Office with the Colleges, President's Office, and with University development efforts;
  • Works with the Provost and Deans on assessment of student learning and academic program development
  • Reports to the Provost of the University of Delaware and serves as a member of the University's senior management team.
