   methods: batik; tie-dye; starch resists; print; stitched, stuffed,

   Simple and off-loom fabrication in a variety of processes;
   crochet, coiling and wrapping, macrame, twining and simple

   Use of various types of multiple-harness (4 or more) looms as a
   creative medium in the development of nonplanar woven forms.

   Exploration of visual systems, conceptual principles and

ART 340  Printmaking II  3
   Provides a continued investigation of relief, intaglio,
   screenprinting or lithography with an emphasis on color printing
   methods. Explores reductive color relief processes; multi-block,
   plate and stone approaches to color printing; and direct photo
   emulsion stencil techniques for screenprinting.

   Twentieth-century artists' materials. Topics: acrylic emulsion and
   solution, alkyd resin, PVA paints; collage-assemblage; solvent-
   photo transfer; synthetic fiber canvas, paper, panels, oil
   pastels, paint sticks, felt-tip markers, colored inks-pencils;
   airbrush-spray gun; and non-art materials. Potential health
   hazards. Conservation topics: pH, lightfastness, adhesion and
   storage environments.
