University of Delaware
COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCE
JOURNALISM

The journalism program is centered in the Department of English but reaches beyond it. There is no separate journalism major, but there are concentrations in journalism for English and History majors. Students majoring in other areas such as political science or communication often take journalism courses to enhance their degree programs. The journalism courses--up to 15 credits not including internships--may also be used as the organizing principle for a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies degree or an Interdepartmental Major. The courses are primarily practice-oriented and are aimed at preparing the interested student to be well qualified for a position in some phase of reporting, writing, or editing for newspapers, magazines, radio, or television. For details, see English and History in this catalog.
