Space Physical Characteristics Definitions

COLUMN E  ROOM NO.
A room number must be designated for each space within the building that is assigned to your department. Room numbers on the survey are the official University identifiers and take precedence over departmentally assigned numbers. First floor spaces are indicated by numbers in the 100 series, second floor spaces by the 200 series, etc.

COLUMN F  ASSIGN SQ FT
This entry defines the net area of the space. It includes the area defined by the walls of the room at or near the floor level, and all alcoves, built-in cabinets and shelves opening into the room. Areas with less that 6'-6" headroom are not included. Square footage of a room is determined in the following sample calculation:
Room Length:   10'-0"
Room Width:  x12'-0"

Square Feet:   120

COLUMN G  ROOM CODE
Code refers to Room Use Codes and their descriptions found here.

COLUMN H  ROOM DESCR
This column contains the nationally accepted description for the the Room Use Code in Column G.

COLUMN I  WKSTAT
This entry indicates the total number of actual workstations located in this space. For OFFICES, a station ordinarily consists of a desk and chair. Two or more persons may share one office workstation on a part-time basis, but it is recorded as one station. For CONFERENCE ROOMS, the number of stations is equal to the seating capacity of the room. For LOUNGES AND OTHER AREAS where equipment and furnishings do not accurately indicate the number of workstations, we will rely upon your estimate of the reasonable capacity of the room.
