2008 Summer Faculty Institute:
Windows Technology Bundle

The technology bundle, for faculty participant's future teaching endeavors at the University. The technology bundle will be the property of the faculty member's department. Components include hardware, installed software, and optional software.

Faculty who participate in the week-long program and indicate a preference for Windows platform technology will receive a current model Windows laptop. The computer will be provided to accepted participants prior to the Institute and used throughout the week.

The Fujitsu LifeBook T4220 features (subject to change) are:

• Operating System: Windows XP Professional Tablet PC Edition
• Processor: Intel® CoreTM 2 Duo Processor T7500 (2.2 GHz, 4 MB L2 cache, 800 MHz FSB)
• Screen: 12.1" SXGA+ active digitizer display with a resolution of 1400 x 1050 pixels

The complete hardware complement will include:

A software bundle will be included to allow faculty to apply all of the teaching models and instructional strategies that will be demonstrated throughout the week.

• Audacity is open source software for recording and editing sounds. This installation include LameLib for making MP3 files.

• NVU is a complete web authoring system to rival programs like FrontPage and Dreamweaver. Nvu (which stands for "new view") makes managing a web site a snap. Now anyone can create web pages and manage a website with no technical expertise or knowledge of HTML.
