Pre-Institute Sessions
To offer Institute sessions at a more advanced level, we expect week-long participants to come with introductory MyCourses knowledge and with basic Microsoft PowerPoint or Apple Keynote experience. Pre-requisite sessions are available, if needed.
Introduction to MyCourses (WebCT)
This session is a brief introduction to UD's learning management system and the team that provides support. There will be discussions about pedagogy and content, and available support resources. Participants will be presented with ideas about using MyCourses (WebCT) to support learning in the areas of content, collaboration, assessment, and administrative instructional tasks. This session also contains all the logistical information for getting started and maintaining active courses in MyCourses (WebCT).
Note: Participation in this class is required to obtain a MyCourses (WebCT) designer account. This is NOT a hands-on training session, although registrants will receive a practice MyCourses (WebCT) course that they can use on their own.

Introduction to Microsoft PowerPoint
PowerPoint can do much more than organize class notes into a slide presentation. This session will demonstrate PowerPoint's use for effective learning. Key points to be addressed include:
- Understand PowerPoint’s role
- Start and navigate a PowerPoint file
- Modify and format a presentation
- Work with multimedia elements
- Modify the master slide
- Run a live presentation
Basic knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint (or Apple Keynote for Macintosh users) is a pre-requisite for participation in the week-long program and can be obtained by attending this session.

Introduction to Apple Keynote
Apple Keynote
can do much more than organize class notes into a slide presentation. This session will demonstrate Keynote's use for effective learning. Key points to be addressed include:
- Understand Keynote ’s role
- Start and navigate a Keynote file
- Modify and format a presentation
- Work with multimedia elements
- Modify the master slide
- Run a live presentation
- Transfer PowerPoint presentations into Keynote
Basic knowledge of Apple Keynote (or Microsoft PowerPoint for Windows users) is a pre-requisite for participation in the week-long program and can be obtained by attending this session.

Introduction to web publishing
This session will cover the basic concepts of a web site creation. Adobe (Macromedia) Dreamweaver will be used in conjunction with HTML coding. Topics will include:
- structural page elements
- layout techniques
- text formatting
- bulleted and numbered lists
- links
- graphics
Class will finish by publishing pages to a web server and setting web permissions.
