Posted September 30, 2006 The News-Journal article,
"Technology engages college students: UD workshop highlights interactive teaching methods", provides coverage of the the September 29 symposium,
"Emerging Technologies for Student Engagement."
Doug Duncan, a University of Colorado faculty member and author of "Clickers in the Classroom," said teachers should use class time to explain meaning, not retell the reading. "You wouldn't teach Shakespeare by writing the text on the board," he said. "The technology forces you to say, 'What's the most valuable use of the class time?'"
Coming September 29, 2006 The preliminary program and registration information is now available for the September 29 symposium
"Emerging Technologies for Student Engagement." This event is open to all interested, so if you have colleagues off-campus who have interest in 'clicker' technology and other applications of technology for student engagement, please call this symposium to their attention. Registration is required, but there is no fee, thanks to the sponsors of the event.
