CASE 3:
- Part 1:
- Part 1 provides the introductory setting for the case study. There is an initial brainstorming question that you will need to answer before going on to Part 2, to help you get started thinking about the major issues of the case.
- Part 2:
- Part 2 begins to focus on the need for and role of science in the case study. There is a more narrowly-defined question that must be answered before you go on to Part 3, intended to help you identify the full range of scientific evidence that should be considered for solving this case.
- Part 3:
- Part 3 involves critical evaluation of the scientific evidence. At this point you will need to draw on all of the scientific concepts and references relevant to the case and prepare a final discussion paper.
-
- Case 1: Auxiliary Discussion Questions
- These questions will be discussed in class. Although not part of the scientific evidence, they are nonetheless important ethical, philosophical, and scholarly issues that should be kept in mind during any scientific investigation. References in the related legal and ethical issues section will be helpful background material for these questions.
