Our Center
PRESENT* provides expertise and facilities to enable faculty and staff
who teach at the University of
Delaware to enhance student learning through the use of technology.
To help achieve our mission we:
- promote the effective use of technology in education
- empower individuals who teach to efficiently use University resources in and beyond the traditional classroom environment
- use appropriate instructional design strategies
- establish peer support among those who teach

Services
PRESENT can be an active partner in your instructional
design process. Contact us for consultation in the planning stages. Our
educational and technical specialists can help you identify your educational
goals and how to achieve them using appropriate technology.
We will evaluate other resources that you might need. We will partner
with you and other support units on campus to assist you in the development,
assessment or funding stages of your projects.
The PRESENT offers several forms of custom training for individuals
or departments, including
- Faculty institutes every winter and summer
- Instructor-led training for a variety of tools
- Personalized, one-on-one orientations
- Self-paced technology clinics
- Custom training for departments either in the PRESENT
site or in your department
- Classroom instruction for students on specific, technology-related
topics by special arrangement
- Demonstrations and overviews
- Self-paced CDs and videos and online tutorials
- Satellite broadcasts on teaching with technology on
UD channel 52
- Microsoft Office training over UD
channel 52 to increase your students’ learning

Faculty and staff may borrow a laptop for free a maximum
of seven days per semester for University related work. There is a moderate
charge for usage beyond seven days. Contact PRESENT
for more information.
For general computer support, contact the IT
Help Center, but the PRESENT can help you with problems specific
to teaching with technology, such as
- Diagnosing and fixing laptop projection problems
- Limiting access to your course web site
- Debugging educational multimedia
The staff of the PRESENT can help evaluate and purchase
hardware and software unique to the faculty member's needs. We will
work with you in conjunction with the Technology Solutions Center to
help you make the right purchases.
The PRESENT offers small grants for technology assistance
to create pilot projects and modules for technology solutions that enhance
teaching and learning. We are particularly interested in receiving applications
for small-scale active learning modules and tools that could scale to
other courses and disciplines.
PRESENT staff will assist in developing proof of concept
to assist you in obtaining external funding. We are available to assist
in setting timelines and general project oversight for selected projects
that use technology in exemplary ways.
