America Online 4.0 - Different ways to "chat"
IN A CHAT ROOM
*Click on PEOPLE - PEOPLE CONNECTION to start talking with fellow AOL members about the latest in popular, worldly issues regarding the media, music, and politics.
*Click on PEOPLE - FIND A CHAT to start 'chatting' with and getting to know different AOL members all over the world based on topics of YOUR CHOICE! You can choose from a long list of chat rooms and from a number of different room 'themes.' Some popular room themes include Arts and Entertainment, Friends, LIFE, News Sports & Finance, Romance, and Special Interests. There are over 75 different chat rooms to choose from about each of these major topics, and those don't even include chat rooms created by fellow AOL members [The rest were created by the AOL service, People Connection (see above).] You can even click on WHO'S CHATTING to see the screen names of the people who are in that specific chat room, and then you have the option of viewing their ~Member Profile~ and/or sending them an ~Instant Message~
*Click on PEOPLE - FIND A CHAT - START YOUR OWN CHAT to begin a chat
room about a topic of your choice. Leave the room as an open invite
to all AOL members by clicking on MEMBER CHAT, or simply invite a few of
your closest friends by clicking on PRIVATE CHAT.
ONE-ON-ONE WITH A FRIEND or FELLOW AOL MEMBER
Click on PEOPLE - INSTANT MESSAGE to send a message to a friend or fellow AOL member that only they will see. Just type in their screen name in the box provided, and a message below that you would like to send to them. They receive your message right away, and the two of you can have your own private online conversation. IT'S THAT EASY!
WANT TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT WHO YOU'RE CHATTING WITH?
Click on PEOPLE - GET AOL MEMBER PROFILE to see a brief summary of a fellow AOL member's personal information. This info. includes their name, where they live ( city, state, country ), sex, marital status, hobbies, type of computer(s) used, occupation, and one or more personal quotes. A member can leave out any information he or she feels necessary, and you yourself as an AOL member can change your profile quickly, easily, and as often as you'd like.
HOW DO I CHANGE MY MEMBER PROFILE?
It's easy! Click on MY AOL - MY MEMBER PROFILE and type in the given
spaces. You don't even have to include information on the topics
suggested. Include inside jokes, topics of your choice, or messages
to your closest friends! There are limits to how much you can type, but
AOL gives you more than enough space to write whatever messages you desire.
***With America Online you can meet and get to know new people, or keep
in touch with close friends despite long
distances between you. Overall the system makes conversation between
