Learning Objectives
When you complete and understand this problem-based laboratory exercise, you should be able to:

1. Explain why it is warm in the summertime and cooler in the wintertime in the continental United States and places at similar latitudes.

2. Explain why it is summertime in the northern hemisphere and, at the same time, wintertime in the southern hemisphere.

3. Explain the relationship between the length of a shadow and the position of the sun in the sky.
