Information on preparation for the second hour exam

The second hour exam will cover driving questions 2 and 3. The big class schedule contains information on what topics were covered, what laboratory activities were associated with those topics, and what discussion section activities were associated with those topics.

When I make up exams, I usually try to devote an amount of time in the exam which is proportional to the amount of time that was devoted in the course as a whole. Because we spent considerably more time on driving question 2 than on driving question 3, you can expect more questions related to driving question 2 than to driving question 3. The topics covered on exams are the topics covered in the classes, but if there is material related to the classes in the reading, you should read it. The main ideas covered in the classes, which are often related to the problems that focus the course, are listed in the overheads for the big class and the list of discussion section activities.

The format of the exam will be similar to the format of the first exam. There will be a few true/false questions which are worth 3 points each. There will be more multiple choice questions which are worth 5 points each. There will be an question with a written answer, and a selection of possible topics will be distributed approximately one week before the exam, as before.

You will be supplied with the equations which you might need and also with a periodic table.

The Copy Maven packet contains a large number of questions which are relevant to this exam.
