The Business Meeting was called to order by section President, George Watson at 12:30 pm.
George noted that many meeting attendees and presenters had not paid their annual section dues, and that the section depends on this source of funds to help cover the costs of meetings and activities.
Section Secretary Bill Warren referred attendees to the section website for the minutes of the last meeting.
The Treasurer's Report was given by Vice-President Deonna Woolard. (attached)
Past President Bill Ingham gave the Report of the Nominating Committee. Section officers for 2001-2002 were nominated as follows:
A motion was made and passed that the nominations be closed and that these nominees be elected. David Schaefer will serve one more year of his two-year term as Treasurer.
Appreciation was expressed to George Spagna for serving as Section Representative for the past six years.
John Layman noted that the new constitution does not provide for section officers such as Vice-President for High Schools and that, in his opinion, we should reconsider this change. It was also pointed out that nothing prohibits a high school teacher from serving as an officer of the section.
George Watson announced that the Spring 2002 meeting will be held at George Mason University on April 19-20. Robert Ehrlich will serve as the local contact.
