Friday Activities at a Glance
Friday's activities will take place at the Science Museum of Virginia

  Registration: 4:00-7:30 pm, in the Forum room
Registration fee: $5
The registration covers the Planetarium Show and the tour of the Physics at the Science Museum of Virginia, and also breakfast and lunch on Saturday.
Banquet: $25
Association dues: $10
   
 
  Workshops: 4:00-5:30 pm    
 
4:00  W1: Gravity Experiments and Demonstrations

Workshop fee: no fee
Experiments and demonstrations for the Physics and Physical Science teacher. Teachers will be introduced to experiments using interactive exhibits at the museum: the Earth-Moon Gravity Wells, Galileo's Leaning Tower, and the prototype Microgravity Drop Tower. Using the pendulum to distinguish variations in the value of g will be explained.

6:00 Planetarium Show
LiveSky Show in the Digistar II IMAX Dome and Planetarium
Kenneth Wilson, Director of Astronomy of the Museum, will present the LiveSky show in the museum's planetarium, highlighting phenomena in the November and December night sky. This is a live and interactive show that will allow teachers to ask questions and to request a special focus on objects of interest. The Leonid Meteor shower will be one of the primary topics.
