New Students: What to Bring
Summer and winter clothing is necessary. A student should plan to have an umbrella or raincoat, boots, warm scarf, a winter coat, and warm gloves. Students have found it useful and enjoyable to bring the national dress of their home country to wear on special occasions. The University does not provide bed linen. Those living off campus must also provide their own linens, and previous students have found it more economical to buy these items in Newark after arrival. The University Health Services requires you to provide information on immunization. We would suggest that you bring a certificate of vaccinations with you that should be signed by your doctor.
When applying for a permanent Social Security Number to work on campus, you will need to provide identification that is at least one year old. Acceptable forms of identification are I.D card, driver's license, translated birth certificate or passport as long as it is at least one year old. Please bring this identification with you.
