The University of Delaware's historic Elliott Hall at 26 E. Main Street serves as the home for most of the operations of CGPS. Erected during the American Revolution in 1777, Elliott Hall remains one of Newark's oldest and most iconic buildings. Located right on Main Street and across from the North Green, our location places us at the center of the cultural crossroads of our campus, between Old College, the Department of Languages, Literatures, & Cultures, and the "Little Bob.

The Study Abroad House, centrally located at 121 E. Delaware Avenue, opened in 2022.

Welcome to the World

The Center for Global Programs & Services (CGPS) at the University of Delaware is home to the operations of Study Abroad, International Student and Scholar Services, World Scholars Program, and Global Outreach and Partnerships. The Center is committed to providing leadership and innovation in support of the University's global initiative and campus internationalization efforts. Focused on a student-centered approach, CGPS provides expert advising and a wealth of engagement opportunities to the UD campus community.

In-bound & Out-bound Mobility

CGPS continues to serve as a critical resource for UD's international community. In addition to providing information and support for the challenges of living, studying and working in a different culture, staff members work to celebrate the presence of international students and scholars on campus and their important contributions to the University's research and teaching missions. CGPS continues to advise UD’s international students, scholars, dependents and departments on compliance with U.S. immigration laws and regulations. Members of UD’s international community continue to benefit from orientations and other programs conducted by CGPS to assist international visitors with their adjustment to the U.S. culture and academic success at UD.

CGPS also inspires exploration among all members of the community by continuing to lead the nation’s first study abroad program, the first-of-its-kind UD World Scholars Program and the Delaware Diplomats Scholarship Program. In partnership with campus stakeholders, CGPS staff support student success through pre-departure workshops and advising, global engagement and experiential learning opportunities, including sponsorship of the International House (iHouse) Living Learning Community, and guided acquisition of skills needed for global careers.

Global Partnerships

CGPS fosters a spirit of international collaboration through management of the University’s global partnerships and agreements process, serving as the on-campus hub for education and research collaborations with 200+ institutions on six continents around the world.

Signature Programs

CGPS sponsors special events and series throughout the year, including our signature Weekly Coffee Hour, the International Student Essay Contest, and the Fulbright Lecture Series. These signature programs have been intentionally crafted to help our global campus community connect, learn and succeed academically, socially and culturally.

Campus Partnerships

With global roots and a commitment to international education, research and exchange, UD prioritizes opportunities to cultivate global citizens and enhance intercultural engagement across campus. Strengthening interdisciplinary and global programs is one of the five key priorities of the University's Strategic Plan. CGPS leads UD's campus internationalization efforts in partnerships with many offices around campus.

Mission

The mission of the Center for Global Programs & Services is to inspire and facilitate the pursuit of global understanding by developing innovative and inclusive programs of study for every member of the UD community and beyond.
