Do you have an interest in other cultures? Do you enjoy meeting new people? Have you ever considered becoming a host for a international student?
The University of Delaware brings over 3,000 international students to the Newark area every year - students who are interested in learning about American ways of life. The University's Office for International Students & Scholars (OISS) brings together students and American families in order for each to learn about the other through a host family program.
OISS is looking for volunteer host families to help students get to know America. Host families are not responsible for housing the students, but in the past have included students in a variety of activities, including:
- birthday celebrations
- outings to cultural attractions
- political and community meetings
- occupational and professional experiences
- sports events
- holiday celebrations
