Student Medical Insurance Instructions
Your student Mandatory Medical Insurance charge is billed to your student account automatically every semester. You will see this charge on your SIS+ acount. You do not have to do anything else for the Basic Blue Plan coverage.
- Blue and Gold Plan Upgrade Instructions
- It will cost you extra money to upgrade your insurance policy.
- On-line Application with Credit Card payment
- During the enrollment period, you may upgrade your coverage to the Blue and Gold Plan. You will need to apply on-line to use your credit card for the additional charges.
- Go to www.universityhealthplans.com.
- Click on link for University of Delaware.
- Select the appropriate student type to continue.
- On the left column, click on the link to Enrollment Form.
- Complete the Enrollment Form and click on Apply to submit application for insurance coverage.
- Paper Application with Check or Money Order mailed in
- If you want to upgrade your coverage to the Blue and Gold Plan, it will cost more. You will need to print the form, fill in the form, and send it with a check or money order for the appropriate amount of money.
- Go to www.udel.edu/shs/
- On the right hand column under the heading "About SHS", click ont he link named "Health Insurance".
- Click on "LINKS TO Student Insurance and Dental Plan Information, Applications and Claim Forms for [Current year]"
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on "International students who wish to upgrade to the Blue and Gold Plan and/or who wish to add a spouse and/or children should use this application.".
- Print and complete form and mail to address at the bottom of the application including a check payable to Nationwide Life Insurance Company for payment.
Upgraded insurance will be effective upon the University Health Plans receipt of the appropriate amount of money.
