  • Post Office - The downtown Post Office in Newark is located at the corner of East Main Street and Center Street. Here you may obtain air letter, postage stamps, and money orders between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The main Post Office, where packages may be picked up, is located at the intersection of Ogletown Rd. and Library Ave. Hours are 7:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Saturdays.
  • Newspapers - The local newspaper is the Wilmington News Journal, which is a daily paper. This paper, along with the New York Times, may be purchased at the Student Center main desk. The Philadelphia Inquirer, and the Washington Post may be purchased at the newsstand on Main Street (across from the Methodist Church). Daily newspapers from major cities as well as from many of your home countries may be found in the Reference Room of the Morris Library (1st floor). The Newark Post is a weekly newspaper spotlighting news and activities in the Newark area.
  • Banking - A common practice in the United States is that of keeping one's funds in a checking account, and paying bills by check. Banks in the Newark area include the PNC (Newark and Fairfield Shopping Centers), Wachovia (opposite the University of Delaware stadium on South College Avenue), the Wilmington Trust Company (Main Street), the Wilmington Savings Fund Society (Main Street), and Citizens Bank (Main Street). Even though you have a checking account with a local bank a form of identification is required when writing a check to a local merchant.
  • Travel Arrangements - Ambassador Travel, located in the Newark Shopping Center and Charlie B. Travels, Campbell Travel Center and Travel, Travel--all on Main Street--provide travel services.
