Why Must I Register for a Field Placement?

Registering online for your Field Placement is part of a process designed to help with two issues:

- Your current placement, and,
- Creating a Field Placement Record of visits which you can use later when applying for student teaching and securing a job. If you wish to enter a record now, select this link, Complete your Online Field Placement Record

Remember, there are three types of Field Placements

Level 1 This is also called an Early Field Placement which typically occurs during Freshman, Sophomore classes, and some Junior classes.
Level 2 Also called Methods, this placement occurs during your Junior year and is considered a precursor to Student Teaching. Before this placement you will be required to complete a Student Teaching Application and produce, among other documents, your Field Placement Record which is discussed below.
Level 3 Student Teaching.

Your Current Placement

When you apply online you provide basic information which is needed to place you in appropriate site. Information collected includes:

Whether or not you have access to transportation can affect which site you can visit. Please keep in mind the following codes:

TRANSPORTATION NOTE
Only for EDUC205 and EDUC230 students.

CP --I will car pool

C(2) --I have a car and can take (2) passengers

V --I will ride in a UD Van

SCHEDULE
Some sites have very specific times when you can visit. We need to make sure we match the right student with the right schedule. Please make sure to include all available free time and not just those times when you would like to go.
MAJOR
Some courses require you to be placed in a classroom with the certain content area.

Field Placement Record

In addition to having you placed a quickly as possible, enrolling online also creates a record of your visit. At the end of the semester after each visit you will be asked to provide details including the hours, location, and a general description of the experience. A complete Field Placement Record will be required when you apply for student teaching. Future employers may also ask to see this information. Our office also uses this data to make sure you visit diverse locations for a balanced experience.
