Style Sheets
Most pages hosted on udel.edu and the OCM Web Templates use style sheets to define the appearance of HTML text. OCM is working in conjunction with IT/User Services to develop style sheets which meet accessibility requirements and provide a consistent look throughout the spectrum of pages which make up “udel.edu”.
Why use style sheets? Tags such as 'bold' and 'font' can be combined to form a single style, which can be used again to apply the same formatting to other blocks of text within a site. This makes it much easier and faster to create Web pages with a consistent style. If you change the style definition, any text with that style attached to it will change automatically and uniformly.
Style sheets separate the content of a Web page from its appearance. This allows Web editors to update content without affecting the presentation, and allows Web designers to change the presentation without affecting the content.
Please visit Oregon State's Web Communications page for an excellent overview. More standards will be emerging from both the Drupal implementation and ongoing work bewteen OCM and IT to improve our web presence and build a consistent and accessible visitor experience across udel.edu.
