CDC updates guidelines on H1N1 flu

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has issued new guidance documents on the H1N1 flu. CDC's goals continue to be to reduce transmissions and illness severity and to provide information that will assist the public, as well as health care providers and public officials.

Public health releases new figures on confirmed H1N1 cases

As of May 5, the Delaware Division of Public Health has announced there are 4 additional confirmed cases of H1N1 flu who are UD students. Public Health officials noted that the change in the number reflects the backlog of lab tests rather than an actual increase in new infections.

Public Health updates number of confirmed H1N1 cases

The Delaware Division of Public Health announced that, as of May 4, there are 10 new confirmed cases of H1N1 in the state of Delaware, all of them UD students. That brings the number of confirmed cases at UD to 20.

Based on the continued support of the Delaware Division of Public Health (DPH), Christiana Care, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the University of Delaware will remain open next week. DPH officials said today that the symptoms among UD students are mild, and all students given a probable or positive H1N1 flu diagnosis are recovering. In fact, some no longer have symptoms.

DPH reports statewide H1N1 numbers

As of 3:45 p.m., Saturday, May 2, the Delaware Division of Public Health (DPH) received two probable test results for H1N1 influenza from individuals who are not University of Delaware students. Additional confirmations and probable cases from UD students were also reported Saturday.

UPDATE: The Carpenter Sports Building clinic closed at 3 p.m. UD students who are experiencing flu-like symptoms should go to Student Health Services in Laurel Hall, which is open 24 hours a day.

University announces event cancellations

Four swine flu cases confirmed in Delaware

Delaware's Division of Public Health (DPH) received confirmation Thursday that four University of Delaware students tested positive for swine flu by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In addition, six more probable cases involving UD students were identified Thursday morning, and those samples forwarded to CDC. This brings the current numbers to four positive for swine flu and 12 probable.

UPDATE: Additional potential swine flu cases identified at University of Delaware

Six additional students who were treated at the University of Delaware Student Health Services on Tuesday, April 28, have been identified by the Delaware Division of Public Health as having cases of influenza that meet the federal government definition for probable cases for swine flu. The total number of probable cases of swine flu at the University is 10.
