Beta Xi Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, International Nursing Honor Society was chartered April 1974. The purposes of Sigma Theta Tau, International are to:

• Recognize superior achievement
• Recognize the development of leadership qualities
• Foster high professional standards
• Encourage creative work
• Strengthen commitment to the ideals and purposes of the profession

Invitation for membership in Sigma Theta Tau is extended to baccalaureate and master degree nursing students who have demonstrated superior scholastic achievement and evidence of potential for leadership.
