Requirements for Admission to Graduate Programs

  • Official transcript showing conferral of a B.S.N. from an NLNAC or CCNE accredited nursing program.
  • Satisfactory performance in undergraduate academic work as well as in upper-division nursing courses.
  • Three satisfactory academic and/or professional references.
  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in Delaware, one of the compact states, or state where clinical practice is to be arranged.
  • An interview with a faculty member from the graduate program.
  • One year of recent clinical experience in a related specialty area prior to starting clinical courses for the CNS and NP concentrations and one year management experience in a health-related field or three years experience in a professional health related practice for HSAD.
  • International students must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language exam and achieve a minimum score of 600 for the paper test or 250 for the computer-based test.

Application Process

The University of Delaware admits three times a year: fall, spring, and summer. Applications and the supplementary materials for admission should be submitted before July 1 for the fall semester, December 1 for the spring semester, and April 1 for summer session. Selected courses may be taken through Continuing Education before matriculation into the graduate program with permission of the School.
