ELINOR M. HOLLAND MEMORIAL AWARD
This book award was developed to honor the memory of Elinor M. Holland. An important part of Elinor Holland’s life was her association with the University of Delaware. Over 60 years ago, Elinor graduated from the university. Since that time she has maintained contact with the university through various activities and her college club. Together, the college club women realized the importance of education and life long friendships. Elinor was also connected to the university through her children. Gail, Raymond, and her daughter-in-law, Jackie are graduates of the nursing program. Gail is an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing.
Nurses touched Elinor’s life in many other ways during her various illnesses. Her family valued nurses who provided excellent and sensitive care. We want to honor Elinor’s memory and association with the university and nurses by recognizing a nursing student who shows promise in the area of gerontological nursing and demonstrates caring and human responsiveness to the needs of elderly clients and their families.
