Providers


Allen Prettyman, PhD, MSN, FNP-BC
Allen became a registered nurse in 1985. He has been a family nurse practitioner since 1995 and earned his PhD in Family Studies and Human Development in 2011. Allen believes in constructing a realistic healthcare plan and timeline that is focused on the patient needs and their personal health objectives. To help patients reach their objectives he believes the best approach is to use a collaborative team approach of integrated healthcare. Using this a framework the NMHC was established under his leadership and has expanded on an ongoing basis since it opened. Allen has published and presented frequently on innovations in healthcare that embrace a patient centered collaborative team approach. He is a member of numerous state and national committees that are focused on improving healthcare outcomes.

 

Sharon Collison
Sharon Collison, M.S., R.D., LDN, CSSD 
Sharon Collison is a licensed, registered dietitian, board certified in sports dietetics.  Ms. Collison has a  Master’s degree in Human Nutrition with a focus in exercise physiology and sports nutrition.  She has been in private practice since 2001. She specializes in weight management, eating disorders, sports, wellness  and cardiovascular nutrition.

 

 

 

 

Jenny Hughes
Jenny Hughes, MSN, FNP-BC
Jenny Hughes is a Family Nurse Practitioner and part time Instructor and Clinical Site Director for the graduate Nurse Practitioner Program at the University of Delaware. She has 18 years experience in primary care and specializes in the care of Diabetes as well as Women's Health. She is also is a member of the Parkinson's Clinic at the NMHC.

 

 


Beatrice Gaynor, MSN, FNP-BC
Beatrice Gaynor earned a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Delaware and a Master's of Science in Nursing from Wilmington University. Ms. Gaynor is an ANCC-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She has worked clinically in geriatrics, critical care, family practice, and adolescent health and taught medical-surgical nursing and pharmacology at a community college. As a full time student pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing Science degree at the University of Delaware, she is working as research assistant to Dr. Regina Sims Wright. Beatrice's research is focused on exploring the gap between research knowledge and clinical utilization of metabolic syndrome measurements. She was awarded the 2013-14 Virginia Lee Franklin Fellowship.

 


Hal Kramer, MD
Dr. Kramer received his Doctor of Medicine at George Washington University and completed his residency at Charleston Naval Hospital in North Carolina. Dr. Kramer serves as a resource to the Nurse Managed Health Center, working in collaboration with our team of Nurse Practitioners to effectively manage the care provided to our patients.

 

 


Ju Young Shin, PhD, APN, ANP-C
Dr. Shin, a Nurse Practitioner and Assistant Professor in the University of Delaware, School of Nursing, has special interests in primary care and the care of older adults. Dr. Shin completed her PhD in Adult Gerontological Nursing at the University of Iowa and a post-master's certificate from Duke University. She was a pre-doctoral fellow of the American Heart Association in 2007. Her research interests include the management of Parkinson's Disease and mental health care for older adults.

 

 


Susan Cross-Skinner, MSN, ANP-BC
Susan Cross-Skinner, an Adult Nurse Practitioner and Instructor in the University of Delaware School of Nursing, has special interest in primary care, health promotion and cancer care. She completed her Master's Degree in Nursing with a concentration in Oncology at Widener University. She completed her Nurse Practitioner education at the MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston, Massachusetts.

 

 


Julia Jordan, MSN, FNP-BC
Julia Jordan is a Family Nurse Practitioner. with 20 years experience in medical/surgical and psychiatric nursing. Julia sees patients at the Nurse Managed Health Center STAR Campus location, as well as at the Center’s satellite office at the Rick Van Story Service Center in Wilmington. Julia is a 2006 and 2012 recipient of the Christiana Care Health System’s Nursing Excellence Award.

 

 


Gina Paladinetti, BSN, RN
Gina received her BSN from the University of Delaware and is currently pursuing her MSN in the Adult-Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist program. Gina serves as the Research Nurse in the Nurse Managed Health Center with a special focus on Parkinson’s disease. 

 

 

 

 

Staff


Jane Ruggiero, BS
Jane is the Business Manager for the Nurse Managed Health Center. She handles the Center's billing and provider credentialing, and serves as the Center liaison to insurance companies and other outside parties. Jane has a BS from UD’s College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. She previously worked as Business Analyst for Sales & Marketing for corporate accounts from 1992-2010. Jane has been with the Nurse Managed Health Center since it first opened in August 2010.

 

 


Patti Szwetkowski, AA
Patti is the Receptionist for the Nurse Managed Health Center. Patti coordinates scheduling for the Center and answers all patient questions about insurance eligibility and Center services. Patti completed her Associate’s Degree in Harrisburg, PA.

 

 

 

 


Sarah LaFave, BSN
Sarah is the Care Coordinator for the Nurse Managed Health Center. Sarah ensures that patients are connected to relevant community resources as well as specialists outside of the NMHC. Sarah is Chair of our Patient Centered Medical Home Committee and of our Community Advisory Board. Sarah is the Founder of Lori's Hands and serves as Coordinator for Service and Experiential Learning in the University of Delaware's College of Health Sciences.

 

 

 

 

Parkinson’s Disease Clinic Researchers


Ingrid Pretzer-Aboff, PhD, MA, RN, CNS
Ingrid received her BSN and MA degrees from the New York University School of Nursing, New York, and PhD from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Research interests include the development and testing of function focused care interventions and programs that help individuals with Parkinson’s disease (PD) function as independently as possible in the community setting. Recipient of the first Edmond J. Safra Philanthropic Foundation Distinguished Scholar in Nursing Award for Outstanding Achievement in Improving the Lives of People Living with Parkinson’s Disease, 2010.

 

 


Tanya Heggans, JD
Tanya Heggans is the Practice Analytics Consultant for the PD Clinic. Tanya works with the clinic administration, research director and biostatistician on integration of telemedicine outcomes data and generation of reports from this data. She has done previous research on HPV related Oropharyngeal Cancer regarding the number the number of diagnosed cases in this area at the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center. She received her BA from the University of Michigan and JD from the University of Detroit Mercy.

 

 

Gina Paladinetti, BSN, RN
Gina received her BSN from the University of Delaware and is currently pursuing her MSN in the Adult-Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist program. Gina serves as the Research Nurse in the Nurse Managed Health Center with a special focus on Parkinson’s disease.


Kyle Winfree
Kyle Winfree received his Ph.D. in Biomechanics and Movement Science from the University of Delaware in 2013. Prior to that, he received his M.S.E. degree in Robotics from the University of Pennsylvania. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher in the Functional Performance Lab, University of Delaware. His research interests include rehabilitation robotics, non-clinical interventions, gait assessment, and informatics.
