Community Development Institutes

Throughout the year, 2-day workshops are conducted on specific subject areas in Community Development. These institutes are designed to provide an intense, single focus training experience for staff and board members of nonprofit organizations and Community-Based Economic Development Organizations in such areas as:

• Legal Organizational Issues for CDCs and CBDOs
• Smart Money Management for Non-Accountants
• Board Governance: The Power of Mission and Stewardship
• Citizen Activism

Community Development Advanced Training Seminars

Designed to meet the on-going training needs of graduates of the Community-Based Development Certificate Course, these seminars provide the next level of capacity-building for Community Economic Development practitioners in such areas as:

• Day to Day Management of CDCs and CBDOS
• Asset Development for Community-Based Organizations
• Choosing and Working with a Consultant
• The CDC/CBDO as the Developer of Housing
• The CDC/CBDO as the Developer of Commercial Real Estate
• Understanding the Development Process

Graduates of the Community Development Certificate Course are eligible to register for the “Brownfields Redevelopment and Environmental Justice” and the “Faith-Based Community Economic Development” Certificate Courses as Advanced Training Seminars.
