Stephanie Cutter joins Steve Schmidt for incisive analysis of the election and their political outlook.

Cutter was Deputy Campaign Manager for President Obama’s 2012 campaign, and a communications adviser in his first term. She is a partner in Precision Strategies, a political strategy firm.

Schmidt is an international political strategist who was a top adviser to President George H. W. Bush, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, and John McCain. He is Vice President of Edelman, the world’s largest public relations firm.

In her capacity as Deputy Campaign Manager for President Obama’s 2012 reelection campaign, Cutter oversaw communications, media, policy, and research, and was a member of the senior strategy team. She also served as Chairman of the Board for the 2013 Presidential Inaugural Committee.

Before joining the campaign, Cutter was Deputy Senior Adviser to President Obama, managing message strategy and issue development.  At the White House, she also crafted the confirmation strategy for Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor and helped create the First Lady’s successful Let’s Move! campaign.  From January to May 2009, Stephanie served as Counselor to Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, handling the strategy behind the development and implementation of the Obama Administration’s Financial Stability Plan. 

Prior to joining the Obama Administration, Stephanie was the Chief Spokesperson for the Obama-Biden Transition, and served as Michelle Obama’s Chief of Staff on the 2008 Obama for America campaign.

As Vice- Chairman of Public Affairs at Edelman, Steve is a strategic counselor to chief executive officers and senior decision makers at global corporations, professional sports franchises, non-profit organizations and academic institutions.

Previously, he served as a top strategist to President George W. Bush’s 2004 re-election and as Deputy Assistant to the President and Counselor to the Vice President.

During his tenure with the Administration, Steve played a leading role in the confirmations of Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito to the United States Supreme Court.

In 2006, Steve left the White House to lead the successful re-election of California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and subsequently served as a senior advisor to Senator John McCain’s presidential campaign.

Steve is a graduate of the University of Delaware and a Senior Fellow at the school’s Center for Political Communication.
