HAYWARD LOUIS OUBRE
HAYWARD LOUIS OUBRE (b. 1916) did his undergraduate work at Dillard University, New Orleans, and went on to study at Atlanta University under painter Hale Woodruff. He was one of the first African Americans to earn an MFA at the University of Iowa. He has taught at Florida A&M University, Alabama State College, and Winston-Salem State University, North Carolina. Known for his wire sculptures and drawings, Oubre's work explores contemporary issues and biblical themes.
