LOIS MAILOU JONES
LOIS MAILOU JONES (1905-1998) was among the first African American graduates of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Jones established and built the art department at Palmer Memorial Institute, North Carolina, and was a professor at Howard University from 1930-1977. Her work can be found in the permanent collections of the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the Corcoran Gallery, Washington DC, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
