MARGARET TAYLOR BURROUGHS
MARGARET TAYLOR BURROUGHS (b. 1917), a visual artist and writer, earned her BFA and MFA from the Art Institute of Chicago. She is one of the principal founders of the DuSable Museum of African American History, Chicago, the first museum in the United States dedicated to black history and culture. Former President Jimmy Carter honored Burroughs for her role in the American art scene.
