JIM ALEXANDER

JIM ALEXANDER (b. 1934), a documentary photographer, has captured moments with renowned entertainers and politicians and highlighted day-to-day life in his neighborhood. Following the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in 1968, Alexander traveled the U.S. to document the emotional aftermath. Additionally, his photo essay on Duke Ellington highlighted in the exhibition Duke and Other Legends: Jazz Photographs demonstrates his commitment to portraying the African American experience. Alexander is the coordinator and an instructor for the photography and journalism program As Seen By Teens at the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center, and teaches at Clark Atlanta University.
