FRANK STEWART
Frank Stewart (b. 1949) earned his BFA in photography at Cooper Union in New York and attended the Art Institute of Chicago, where he studied with Joel Meyerowitz, Roy DeCarava, and Jay Maisel. Now the Senior Staff Photographer for Jazz at Lincoln Center, he is also a member of the Kamoinge Inc. group, which provides artistic support and mentoring to young African American photographers. He has recently edited a book of photographs with poems by Ntozake Shange, The Sweet Breath of Life, a tribute to and continuation of Roy DeCarava and Langston Hughes' The Sweet Flypaper of Life, a book that inspired generations of African American writers and photographers.
