SAMELLA LEWIS
Samella Lewis began her art career as an undergraduate student at Dillard University studying under Elizabeth Catlett. After earning her B.A. degree at Hampton University, Lewis earned her masters and doctorate in Fine Arts and Art History from Ohio State University with a concentration in Asian and African arts. Dr. Lewis was instrumental in establishing the Museum of African American Art in Los Angeles and the International Review of African American Art. Drawing and painting from the age of four, her deeply personal works invariably reflect experiences from her own life.
