apprenticeship programs

The Curatorial Apprenticeship Program offers upper-level undergraduate students from any major an introduction to the museum profession. Through weekly sessions, participants learn about current standards and practices in collections management, handling art and artifacts, public relations, interpretive programming and other topics. Sessions are held on Wednesdays from 2to 4 pm. Students may also choose to pursue an independent study for credit in collaboration with University Museums during the Spring semester.

Application deadline is the Friday preceding spring break; applicants are usually juniors or first semester seniors. Forms are available at the University Gallery Office (Room 114 Old College). Interviews for finalists will be scheduled in April; six to eight apprentices selected to begin the following academic year. Students volunteer a minimum of fifty-five (55) hours over the Fall and Spring semesters.
