The first column is the Standard, reprinted and numbered according to New Directions-Science Curriculum Framework (June, 1995). The Teacher's Desk Reference was used to identify which Standard(s) are supported by each grade-level PI. The third column is a shorthand phrase for the major idea or skill being developed by these documents. Finally, at the right-hand side of the document is a column with the names of the University of Delaware courses that are available to support the teacher's understanding and classroom presentation of these ideas. Note: Standard 1, the Nature and Application of Science and Technology is not specified by 9th and 10th grade-level Performance Indicators. The concepts, skills and appreciation inherent in Standard 1 are embedded in the classroom experiences that are suggested by many, if not all PI's and this is indicated in the table by "All".
