Delaware K-12 Mathematics Education Reform
|
In June 1995, the Delaware State Board of Education adopted new mathematics
content and performance standards. Delaware's nineteen public school districts,
with a student population of approximately 110,000, are charged with writing
district level mathematics curricula consistent with these standards and
have begun the process of implementing standard-based reform at the classroom
level. An interim statewide testing program in mathematics took place in
1993, 1994, and 1995. The new Delaware State Testing Program will pilot
mathematics items in spring 1997 and will become operational in spring
1998, testing students in mathematics in grades 3, 5, 8, and 10.
